This is a nice hotel located conveniently near the Centraal Station and down town Amsterdam The hotel has a traditional theme decor but is up to date at the same time. Our room was lovely and a really good size. The Spa was great and a brilliant place to unwind after city break walking. The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful with sightseeing advice. The breakfast lacked the usual 5 star variety but was nonetheless adequate. I'll definitely stay here again.

Not worth the money at all!

The hotel is supposedly a 5 star. Not true. It is old, sadly in need of a huge facelift. The lobby is small, cramped. It is very dark throughout- hallways, foyer, restaurant. Our housekeeping service was not adequate. Reported this to a manger and it took 2 requests to make it happen. One morning one coffee machine in the restaurant was not working for breakfast. The next morning the staff decided to run the clean feature in the second coffee maker right when breakfast was being served. Another morning I had to search for staff because there was an error on the machine, indicating it needed to be refilled. Smoker hotel guests congregate right outside the front door. One of the exit doors had a terrible screech the whole 5 day stay. Guess they don’t have WD40 in Amsterdam. I would never recommend.

The hotel charm is limited to its history and architecture. If you are looking for 5 Star service and overall comfort, you will need to look for a different property. Our room was okay- large with tall ceilings but very stuffy and warm. We tried to regulate the temperature and asked to front desk for assistance, however, we saw no improvement- the building is very old and it comes down to the infrastructure which needs upgrading. The service is spotty at best- limited staff which is clear when you get to the hotel with luggage and there’s no one to help you taking it up the front stairs into the lobby. Late at night the front desk was empty and evenings, trying to get assistance is also a struggle

Very nice old style European hotel in well kept condition. The rooms were large and spacious; the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern. Our room had a beautiful view over a canal. Location was great; close to the action without being right in the middle of it. Could walk to everything, including lots of great restaurants. Had a nice lunch in the lounge. Outstanding staff in all respects. Would stay here again.
